The total amount of application in 2018 is 3.3 million.

Patent applications have increased in the United States, Korea, Europe. It have increased amazingly in China. On the other hand, it have decreased in Japan.

This is trend in patent applications for the top five offices.

The United State, Republic of Korea, and Europe show strong increase.

Remarkably, China shows amazing increase.

On the other hand, patent applications in Japan decrease in the last 10 years.

China is the TOP in the world in the amount of patent applications.

China is the TOP in the world in the amount of patent application.
Patent applications in China is more than 2.5 times as much as applications in the U.S.

The table of applications vs office. In Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, applications from NON-resident have the majority.

In the bar graph above, red means applications by resident, and orange means applications by non-resident.

In the countries having higher orange-ratio, foreign entities apply for patents actively.
It indicates that active investment is made in Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Popular country for overseas applications: 1st the United States, 2nd Europe (EPO), and 3rd China.

Although the graph above is not familiar,
Left of the graph is the origin of applications, and Right is the destination of applications.

  ☆ ☆ ☆

Top Left is Japan.
There are some currents from the left side (Japan) to the right side.

The topmost current (red color) means the applications from Japan to overseas countries.
In the current, almost half goes to the United States (right side).

This means that half of overseas application goes toward the United States.

Similarly, the current shows that 1/7 goes to EPO, 1/4 goes to China in the applications from Japan to overseas countries.

  ☆ ☆ ☆

Furthermore, the right side of the graph tells the popular destination countries of overseas applications.

It shows that the most popular country is the United States, the 2nd is Europe, and the 3rd is China.

  ☆ ☆ ☆

In China, High price compensation have been determined. Moreover, punitive damages (less than 5 times) system have been introduced in China.

The table above shows that TOP10 amount of compensation for damages in China in the last 10 years.

Patent application in China became top in early 2010s.
This happened only in the last 10 years.

However, high price compensation (almost 50 million dollar) have already been determined.

  ☆ ☆ ☆

Furthermore, punitive damages (less than 5 times) system have been introduced in China.

Therefore, the amount of compensation for damages will go up in the future.
